Maintaining your Instrument during Marching Season
Using our instruments outside can create a variety of issues if not well maintained. Please read below for your instrument group on how to maintain your instrument. This may even help you save some money!
It is important to remove any extra moisture from your instrument before storing away in your case.
Flutes
- Tuning Rod
- Silk Swab
- Pad Saver - these are to be placed inside the flute and headjoint AFTER being swabbed. This will remove any excess moisture from pads and prevent sticky keys.
Clarinets
- Silk Swab
- Extra Reeds
- Cork Grease
- Pad Saver - these are to be placed inside the flute and headjoint AFTER being swabbed. This will remove any excess moisture from pads and prevent sticky keys.
Saxophones
- Neck strap
- Swab
- Extra Reeds
- Pad Saver - these are to be placed inside the flute and headjoint AFTER being swabbed. This will remove any excess moisture from pads and prevent sticky keys.
All Brass
- Valve oil - valves must be oiled to prevent sticking
- Rotor Oil - French Horn only
- Slide-o-mix - Trombones only
