ABOUT US
The award-winning Mustang Guard is a multi-faceted co-ed performing arts program that combines dance fundamentals, theatrical skills, equipment proficiency, and dynamic choreography into a team-focused pageantry activity.  Members progress in their training all year through guard classes, extra-curricular rehearsals, seasonal weekend workshops, and summer camps.

school spirit pep rallies
seasonal parades

Welcome Mr. Bender!

Mr. Bender is excited to be joining the Grapevine Band Staff for the 2023-24 school year!
Any updated information regarding the Mustang Guard can be found in the band newsletters.
Mr. Bender started his color guard career in Los Angeles, California. He has participated with the marching arts for 7 years, performing with ensembles such as Coronado Independent Winterguard, Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, and Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps.

Before moving to Texas, Mr. Bender was an instructor at Tarpon Springs High School in Tarpon Springs, Florida. During his time there, they were a finalist at BOA Grand Nationals, appeared at the 2023 New York Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and earned a Scholastic World Class Silver Medal at the WGI World Championships in 2023.​

Mr. bender also works with multiple groups across the nation as a choreographer and weapon technician. These groups include: William Mason High School, Pebble Hills High School, and Glory Independent.
Members in the GHS Mustang Guard are eligible to join the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.  Inductees are eligible to receive a gold honor pin, graduation cords, and medallion.  Scholarships are also available as a part NHSDA: The Artistic Merit, Leadership, and Academic Achievement Award application opens in Oct. and closes Feb. with recipients announced in May.
