Dustin Grimes
Dustin Grimes is a professional bass trombonist and low brass specialist for the award-winning band programs of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and Lewisville ISD. He holds a Master of Music from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s from Texas Christian University, where he studied under world-class pedagogues from the Pittsburgh and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras.
Throughout his career, Mr. Grimes has been recognized for excellence in both the classical and jazz idioms. He is a recipient of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and the Curt Wilson Jazz Award, and his performance credits include featured appearances at the TMEA Convention, the Jazz Education Network (JEN) Conference, and with the NAfME All-East Orchestra. He has previously served as Principal Bass Trombonist for Center Stage Brass and as a regular substitute for the Brazos Chamber Orchestra. Mr.Grimes was featured as a guest teacher at the Festival of Trombones in 2026.
Mr. Grimes currently maintains a premier studio of 70 weekly students. His pedagogical approach has led to consistent success at the highest levels, including numerous student placements in the TMEA and ATSSB All-State Ensembles, as well as top honors at the District, Region, and Area levels for both middle and high school
