David Yoon
David Yoon is a professional trumpet player and lesson teacher in the DFW metroplex. Originally from Chino Hills, California, he moved to Texas to attend the University of North Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance on a full scholarship. While there, David studied with Caleb Hudson for classical trumpet as well as Pete Clagett for jazz trumpet.
David has a trumpet lesson studio comprised of students from all across the country, with many of them becoming music majors, All-State members, and All-Region members. From 2025-2026, David's students at Duncanville HS made seven TMEA 6A All-State appearances in 2 years, the most from any one HS in Texas during that time. In 2025, the Duncanville Trumpet Ensemble coached by David was a finalist at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition and UIL State Chamber Music Competition, the only trumpet ensemble to receive those honors.
As a performer, David is comfortable in both the classical and jazz idioms, having performed professionally all across the country in a wide variety of different ensembles. While at UNT, David performed with the Wind Symphony, Wind Orchestra, and was the lead trumpet for the Latin Jazz Lab Band and Three O'Clock Lab Band. His trumpet ensemble at UNT was a quarterfinalist at the National Trumpet Competition and 2nd Place Winner of the George Papich Chamber Music Competition.
