Robin Sweeden
Robin Michelle Sweeden is an oboist and educator based in Dallas, Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Baylor University where she studied with Dr. Doris DeLoach, and earned both her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Oklahoma, where she studied with Dr. Dan Schwartz and Lisa Harvey-Reed. Her doctoral research explored the oboe music of Ultramodern composer Vivian Fine and the cultural context of the American avant-garde.
An active performer and teacher, Dr. Sweeden regularly performs with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Lawton Philharmonic, and Cimarron Opera. She is also recognized as a soloist and chamber musician across the United States. Her recordings include Moxie, a studio album with the South Dakota Chamber Winds, and the Celtic Woman 20th Anniversary album.
Dr. Sweeden has held faculty positions at Southern Nazarene University, the University of Central Oklahoma, and Rose State College. She is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the American Federation of Musicians, and the International Double Reed Society.
