Colin Hilliard
Colin Hilliard is a freelance bassoonist performing with ensembles such as the Plano Symphony, Irving Symphony, and San Angelo Symphony. Colin also maintains a private bassoon studio, where he focuses on inspiring the next generation of bassoonists and equipping them with tools for growth. His teaching emphasizes thoughtful practice, musical expression, and helping students develop the skills to become confident, independent musicians.
Colin received his master’s degree from Southern Methodist University, studying with Dallas Symphony principal bassoonist Ted Soluri and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Texas under Kathleen Reynolds and Darrel Hale.
Colin previously served as a Teaching Artist with the Dallas Symphony’s Young Musicians program and teaches privately across Plano ISD, Lovejoy ISD, and Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.
Outside of music, Colin enjoys playing basketball, cooking, and spending time in nature with his wife, Lisa, and their dog, Zara.
